BIO
In the early 90's, I worked in a recording studio in Doncaster with composer and producer Russell Carline, initially helping to upgrade his studio to introduce and integrate digital recording equipment into his existing analogue setup.
I worked with Russ to record and produce music that was used by Sky TV and record bands in the studio as well as recording a live album for The Frank Carline Blues Trio.
Through the studio work I was introduced to a band called Stafford Galli and joined them, initially as a roadie but moving on to mixing the band at live shows.
Following this I worked as the sound and lighting engineer for a covers band called Free Spirits. Performing mainly in working mens clubs throughout the UK we also did a tour of Army and RAF bases in Germany.
After a break working retail in the 2000's I purchased my first PA system with a redundancy payment, this enabled me to DJ for a Star Trek Fan Group I belonged to.
This led to providing PA systems and running the sound for several large Star Trek conventions. This included providing sound reinforcement for talks and interviews as well as DJing for the after parties.
These events were also my first introduction to DMX lighting setups and controllers.
After moving to Ashton-Under-Lyne I became involved in the Open Mic scene and expanded my setup to include Karaoke.
This has led to me running several Open Mic nights and providing DJ and Karaoke services for private parties.
For two years now I have provided the PA and run sound for the indoor stage at the Strummer Camp Festival. (https://strummercampfestival.com/)
I am currently involved in a Rock Musical production with The Reformers of Peterloo (https://www.peterloo-in-rock.com/). Providing the PA and mixing in a digital environment using the XR18 digital mixer and the Mixing Station App.
This is the largest project I have worked on, consisting of mixing a seven piece band including drums, bass guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, keyboards and 5 vocalists.
I am currently supplying one of my mixing consoles to the Station Hotel, Ashton-Under-Lyne in support of the We Shall Overcome Charity.
